New photovoltaic park about to start in the center of the country

HAVANA, Apr. 2nd. Soon, the photovoltaic solar park under construction in the municipality of Morón, north of Ciego de Ávila, will begin to deliver energy to the National Electric System (SEN).According to the acting director of the electricity company in Ciego de Ávila, Luis Alberto Hernández, the installation will have a capacity of four megawatts. It is currently more than 90 percent complete and work is underway on the assembly of the transformer.

This park, the fourth of its kind in the province, is part of the country’s strategy to change the energy matrix and has been achieved thanks to a donation from the People’s Republic of China.

Prensa Latina states, according to statements by the director, that, in 2023, this province delivered to the SEN about 16 thousand megawatts/hour from the three solar parks in operation, which represented a saving of more than four thousand tons of fuel and a reduction of carbon dioxide emitted into the atmosphere.

Through the international project Energía de Todos, solar panels were installed in 167 houses located in rural communities in northern Avila, says Ramón Acosta, president of Cubasolar in the town, Ramón Acosta.

The note from the official media declares that the use of these media benefits hotel establishments, daycare centers, public buildings and livestock.

In this sense, we insist on strengthening investments, taking into account the country’s strategy for 2030, when it is intended that clean energies represent 29 percent of the national energy matrix.
