HAVANA, Apr 14  Johannes Brahms (1833-1897) is a challenge for any symphonic formation. We are talking about one of the titans of musical romanticism. The most classic of the romantics, according to many musicologists. In some ways, his creation sums up the extraordinary tradition of German music, dating back to his much-admired Johann Sebastian Bach. With Brahms, in the Havana Cathedral

This Saturday the Lyceum Orchestra of Havana, under the direction of maestro José Antonio Méndez Padrón, will perform one of the most complex and fascinating compositions of the German musician, Symphony No. 4 in E Minor, which refers in its specificity to one of Bach’s great chorales.

And to complete the program, the Symphony Concertante in A Major by Johann Christian, one of Johann Sebastian’s twenty children. In Brahms’ music you can glimpse that of Bach, says Méndez, who trusts in the ability of his renewed orchestra to interpret the difficult (and magnificent) score.
