James Bond for the first time in Cuba

James Bond for the first time in CubaHAVANA, Aug 3 (PL) The Cuban Cinematheque is opening in Havana a cycle of films about James Bond, Agent 007, an icon of British cinema whose existence on the big screen exceeds 50 years.

The film about the popular character created by writer Ian Fleming will be shown until August 31, at Havana’s 23 y 12 movie theater.

Movie lovers could enjoy the films played by all the actors who have characterized Agent 007: Barry Nelson, Sean Connery, David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig.

Apparently, James Bond was not entirely a result of Fleming’s imagination, as he was inspired by the feats of several people he met during World War II when he worked in the Naval Intelligence Division, despite he never participated in combative actions.

As the British journalist confessed, in an attempt to avoid tensions and entanglements caused by a risky chain of infidelities and romantic adventures, he began writing in 1952 Casino Royale, the first 007 novels.
