WTO Director arrives in Havana

havana-live-wto-director-general-roberto-azevedo-bali-agreement-benefits-developing-countries-1296493-wto-1677579fHAVANA, Aug 13 (acn) The director general of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Roberto Azevedo, arrived in Havana on Tuesday afternoon as part of a tour that also includes Mexico and El Salvador.

Azevedo’s agenda in Cuba includes meetings with the Vice-president of the Council of Ministers Ricardo Cabrisas, Foreign Trade Minister Rodrigo Malmierca and Deputy Foreign Minister Abelardo Moreno.
He will also meet with officials of the Regulatory Office of the Special Development Zone of Mariel, an enclave located 50 kilometers west of Havana, which will become in the future the main area of activities of Cuban foreign trade.
The Special Development Zone, the first of its kind on the island, will include an industrial platform for import, production and sales to the domestic market or to other countries, as well as a modern megaport.
