Wingo airline inaugurates new Panama-Havana route

HAVANA, Nov 4 The low-cost airline Wingo, belonging to Copa Airlines, has inaugurated on November 2 a new direct route …

between Panama and Havana, which will now join both countries with two weekly flights.

In its social networks, the Colombian airline announced that it will connect from this Saturday the Panama Pacific International Airport with the José Martí International Airport. The inaugural trip took place around noon and arrived at the island at 3:30 pm.

On the other hand, flights from the Cuban capital will depart at 4:28 pm (local time) and will arrive in Panama City at 7:18 pm.

The company has high international prestige and is currently recognized as the best low-cost airline in Latin America and the third in the rest of the world, according to the specialized website Kayak.

The first flight from Wingo to Havana occurs after last week the Colombian airline Avianca Holdings decided to cancel the sale of tickets to Cuba indefinitely after the United States government announced that it could sanction the company for its operations in the island.

Juan Sebastián Molano, General of External Communications of Wingo said last June that, while Panama stands as one of the destinations for shopping tourism most visited by Cubans, because it offers numerous shopping centers “for Cubans who wish to supply their business », Cuba offers its art and its« Cuban flavor so unmistakable and unique ».
