Video of Cuba Única wins prize at Asian festival

HAVANA, Nov 26. The promotional video of Cuba’s Unique campaign today won first place in the international awards of the 10th Asian Microcinema and Art Festival.This year, more than 100 works were presented in the contest in the province of Yunnan, southwest of the country, in 13 competition categories that included feature films, documentaries, animations, civilization, rural revitalization, youth power, among others.

The video Única from the Cuban Ministry of Tourism won in the musical microcinema section, along with other films from Türkiye and Iran.

The Cuba Única campaign highlights Cubans as the protagonists of the destination and in its various audiovisual materials offers a diversity of portraits and landscapes of the Caribbean island, which make it incomparable.

The audiovisual was produced by the Spanish Communication Consulting Company Disset Consultors and Mallorca Video and Island Film Cuba collaborated.

Last July, this same video won the Silver Award in the United States at the US International Awards 2023.

In statements to Prensa Latina, Cuba’s Tourism Minister in China, Elizabeth Vela, commented that the Única campaign launched this year here has positioned itself increasingly better in the Asian giant.

“This is a video that reflects Cuban culture and its people, whom it positions as the main ambassadors of the destination,” she added.

Vela explained that the island maintains an active participation in Chinese fairs related to the sector where it promotes its security features and connection with nature, aspects of great interest to Chinese travelers.

She recalled that Cuba was included in the first group of countries that the Chinese could visit after the pandemic.

“Before Chinese international tourism fully recovers, the greatest demand will come from high-net-worth and fully vaccinated travelers. This type of client will require better service and, above all, quality,” she asserted.
