THESE LOCALS ARE CHAMPIONING CUBA’S SURF MOVEMENT

HAVANA, Sept. 26th Cuba is a bit of an anomaly within the surfing world. Despite being one of the most populated countries in the Caribbean there are only 150 Cuban surfers.

That means only 0.001% of the country takes advantage of its 2000 miles of incredible coastline. It doesn’t help that there isn’t a single surf shop in all of Cuba, making it a grand ordeal to even get gear.

Many crafty Cubans have resorted to stealing styrofoam from fish stores to make a surfboard.
