The Faílde Orchestra from Cuba, new voting member of the Latin Grammys

HAVANA, Sep 25th  The Faílde Orchestra, defender of Cuban danzón, rhythm and national dance, appears today on the list of voting members belonging to the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, which awards the Latin Grammy Awards. Through his account on the social network Twitter, the flute player and director, Ethiel Faílde, made public the election that supports the worth of the renowned group, which has revitalized a century of music on the island.

“Happy! One more step in our professional life and in our commitment to defending the good music of Cuba and the region”, stated the leader and direct descendant of the musician and composer, Miguel Faílde, creator of the first danzón.

With the acceptance, the Cuban representatives will be able to participate in the voting and delivery process of the Latin Grammy Awards, while adding their voice and professional experience within the community that distinguishes Latin music.

For its contemporary airs and freshness, the band has won accolades inside and outside the Caribbean nation, including Jazz Wise magazine, one of the most important magazines dedicated to the genre in the United Kingdom, which highlighted its sound quality and collaborations with artists such as the iconic singer Omara Portuondo.

Recently, the Cuban group represented their country during the Concert for Cuba initiative, convened by the Chicago HotHouse, which brought together voices from around the world in a song of solidarity with the largest of the Antilles.
