Spain organizes in Cuba the XVII Golf Tournament "de la Hispanidad"

HAVANA, sept. 15th. Last year, Cuban golfer Annia Blanco was the winner in the women’s section of the XVI Tournament “Hispanic Day” that took place in the Varadero Golf Club. The event was attended by an important representation of golfers from Latin America.

Every year, between October 12 and 14, the Embassy organizes this sporting event. For this reason Cuban television interviewed Juanjo Guayabera. It is the first time in years that an ambassador from Spain has been on Cuban television, and not precisely to talk about human rights or about the problems that afflict the Spanish community living on the island.

No, the ambassador appears to promote a Golf Tournament that has been given the second surname “de la Hispanidad” to be well with God and with the mangoes. This morning, the one in charge of receiving the brave word of Juanjo Guayabera was Cubavisión Deportes, one of the only two channels on the island, to which the distinguished official had the opportunity to present this important initiative in detail.

In the year 2017, the first three places were awarded in two categories of gentlemen and one of ladies. In the first male category, the winner was Spaniard Pedro Garrido with a cumulative net of 136, escorted on the podium by Daniel Piedrahita of Colombia and Cuban Jesús Rueda, occupiers of the second and third positions respectively.

The second male category was dominated by the Cuban golfer Javier Casas with 167 points, followed by Aviecer López (191 points) and Esteban Fistonich (192).

As every year, two plane tickets for a return trip Madrid-La Habana-Madrid or La Habana-Madrid-La Habana are raffled between the participants.
