Southwest Airlines made an emergency landing at Havana airport
HAVANA, March 5th A Southwest Airlines flight performed an emergency landing at Havana-J Marti-Intl airport, following an engine issue.
Flight #WN2452 from Fort Lauderdale stopped on a taxiway and an evacuation via emergency slides was initiated.
Corporación de la Aviación Cubana stated: “At 12:05 p.m. today at the José Martí International Airport in Havana, the Boeing 737 aircraft of the Southwest airline (SWA 3923) bound for Fort Lauderdale, during During the takeoff process, it detected failures in one of its engines, following the established procedure, it’s landing at the Havana Airport was authorized. The passengers were evacuated and are in good condition. The causes of the incident are being investigated.”
Maikel Hernández: “ A Southwest Airline plane makes an emergency landing at the José Martí International Airport in Havana. When clearing, it had a problem with one of its engines causing an explosion and they proceeded to land in an emergency.
The plane was able to land at the airport and immediately the fire brigades went to the scene, pouring water on it to cool it down.
An airport source confirmed to the aforementioned media that the aircraft landed in the area of the runway closest to Terminal 3: “Firefighters and ambulances have arrived, but no details are yet known, the entire place is cordoned off,” he added.
