Roc Hotels comenzar a gestionar el hotel 'El Viejo y el Mar' de La Habana

HAVANA, Aug. 31st. The Majorcan Roc Hotels continues to expand its catalog in Cuba after signing an agreement to start managing the hotel ‘El Viejo y el Mar’, in Havana, starting January 1, 2024. To do this, it has signed a hotel management and marketing contract with the state company Grupo Cubanacan. The establishment, which will be renamed ‘Roc El Viejo y el Mar‘, is located in the west of the Cuban capital, within the Marina Hemingway complex, and has a 4-star category and 190 rooms.

It will become the sixth hotel managed by the Mallorcan chain in Cuba, the second in Havana together with the ‘Roc Presidente’ 158 rooms. Likewise, it is the first property that operates on the island of Grupo Cubanacan.

The bulk of its catalog is made up of hotels from the Gran Caribe Hotel Group, such as the aforementioned ‘Roc Presidente’, as well as ‘Roc Varadero’ (4E-510), ‘Roc Arenas Doradas’  and ‘Roc Barlovento ‘, all three located in the destination of Varadero. Likewise, in January 2023, Roc Hotels reached an agreement with the Gaviota Tourism Group to start managing the ‘Roc Casa del Mar’  , in Cayo Santa María.

Roc Hotels has focused its expansion on signing management contracts in Cuba, although it does not rule out signing leases or making asset purchases in other areas of the Caribbean.

As will be recalled, at the end of 2020 the company ceded the management of most of its Spanish hotels to Apple Leisure Group – ALG, currently integrated into the Hyatt group.

Only the Mallorcan ‘Roc Illetas Playa’ (4E-170) and ‘Roc Portonova’ (3LL-80) were left out of this operation, which continues to be marketed under the ‘Roc’ brand.
