Renowned French Clarinetist to Play in Havana

havana-live-heauHAVANA, Oct 14 (PL) The renowned French clarinetist Florent Héau will make several presentations in Cuba as part of artistic exchange projects between the two countries.

Heau will attend the First National Clarinet Competition on October 20 and 21 at the Jose Marti Memorial in Havana, according to information given during a meeting in which he participated in the Embassy of the Caribbean nation in France.

The competition, which has the support of the institutions of the island, is of utmost importance for the artistic development of our music students, told Prensa Latina the Cuban musician Alexis Lester Chio, one of the promoters of the event, who is also professor at the Conservatory of Saint Cloud in Paris.

The French musician will also play by late October in the Festival Mozart-Habana and will offer a concert on October 30 in that city.

The program includes visits and exchanges with students and teachers of music schools of Havana and Matanzas.

The meeting in the Cuban Embassy in Paris was also attended by the Cuban ambassador to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, Dulce Maria Buergo; Cuba’s ambassador in France, Hector Igarza; and Consul Vivian Delgado.
