New edition of the International Sport Fishing Tournament “Jardines del Rey Big Game Trolling”
HAVANA, Oct. 29. As every year, the emblematic Jardines del Rey Big Game Trolling International Fishing Tournament returns to the northern coast of Cayo Guillermo, which 2023 reaches its 10th Edition.Until October 30, a team from England, two Canadians, a mixed team between Canada and Croatia and the Cuban team will participate in the Marina Marlin branch of that tourist destination.
The event will consider the capture of species such as Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Wahoo and Dolphin. The allowed fishing line will be 60 pounds and notification of a tag and release or a catch will be reported to the marina control center indicating the time, the equipment number and the area where it occurred.
After the first day, the competition runs as follows:
Libertad Canadian Team first catch of Dorado at 6.91lb
Taurus British Team second catch of Dorado 5.78lb
Marlin VIII Canada-Croatia third catch of Dorado 4.23lb
The fishing area will include up to 5 miles to the North Northeast between Cayos Coco and Guillermo, a rich fishing area in the Old Channel of the Bahamas where a high variety of species abounds.
As every year in the competition, the fishermen are governed by the rules of the International Sport Fishing Federation, using the tag and release system with the purpose of protecting the marine environment.
