International Ballet Stars to Dance in Havana

royalty-ballet-starsHAVANA,August 21th (Prensa Latina) International classical ballet stars will revere the greatness of ballet during a single function today at the Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso, organizers said.

The Ballet Royalty Gala will be presented at the Federico Garcia Lorca hall and the main stars will be Ivan Vasiliev, Iana Salenko, Mathew Golding, Rodrigo Almarales, Joseph Gatti, Daniil Simkin, Jurgita Dronina, Mass Kuranaga, Maria Kochetkova, Semyon Chudin, Adiarys Almeida and Carlo Di Lanno.

The program includes a dozen fragments of universal ballet pieces and others of a more contemporary style, said at a press conference the dancer and general director of the cultural project, Rodrigo Almarales.

The dancer said he was excited, because with this presentation he fulfilled his dream of gathering talented dancers from major companies in the world to perform in Cuba. He also said that he wants to take this show to other countries.

Born in Cuba, Almarales began his training at the National Ballet School and then has achieved a remarkable international career, which led him to conquer audiences on several continents.

The Cuban dancer Adiarys Almeida said that she was very happy because she will dance again in her country.

Meanwhile, the Russian dancer Ivan Vasiliev, who danced for the Cuban public a decade ago, expressed his desire of obtaining again the ovations of the local audience.

A giant screen located on Avenue San Jose, near the Gran Teatro will broadcast the Ballet Royalty Gala in real-time and later the Cuban television will pass the Gala in the TV show ‘Bravo’.

This way, the ballet transcends geographical borders as the universal art it is, as an expression able to gather stars from the most diverse regions of the world on one stage.
