Iberostar reopens six hotels in Varadero

Iberostar to reopen cuban hotels in November

HAVANA, Nov. 1st  The Spanish group Iberostar begins its staggered calendar of reopening in Cuba, with the return to activity of six hotels in which more than 300 safety and hygiene measures have been implemented through the How We Care program.

The chain will receive this Saturday, at the Iberostar Selection Varadero, 150 travel agents and representatives of tour operators from Germany, who will arrive on a Condor Airlines flight to learn about the protocols that guarantee safe vacations.

On October 15, Cuba reopened Varadero and Condor’s flight will be the first from Germany after the temporary closure of the island due to the pandemic. The objective of this trip organized by the hotel group is to show the agents the hygiene and safety measures at all times: on the plane, at the destination and in the hotels.

The Group has already started its reopening calendar in America and now adds Cuba, wherein the coming weeks it will have six active hotels again. The return to operations has started with Iberostar Selection Varadero, Iberostar Selection Bella Vista Varadero e Iberostar Tainos, all of them in Varadero.

In the coming weeks, Iberostar Selection Ensenacho, Iberostar Daiquirí and Iberostar Selection Holguín are expected to follow, waiting to add more openings in the coming months due to the reopening of borders, and the reactivation of demand and air connectivity.

“We are very happy to reopen hotels in a destination as important as Cuba, where the Iberostar Group has been operating for almost 30 years. We have worked for months to get to this moment and our How We Care health security program has already been an example of success in other destinations where we operate ”, highlighted Miguel Fluxá, Iberostar Group president.

“We are moving steadily forward in the new scenario, reinforcing customer confidence and consolidating an increasingly responsible tourism model. We are very pleased to contribute to the reopening of this destination together with local authorities and key partners for us like Condor. Together, we have the infrastructures, the experience and the talent to guarantee a safe vacation in Cuba ”, added Flux.

Once in Cuba, the agents and tour operators of the German market will attend a workshop with local suppliers and a Top Talk at the Iberostar Grand Packard, a benchmark of great luxury in the heart of Havana open exclusively to host the event, in which the CEOs of Condor and DER Touristik will participate; the president of Schauinsland Reisen and that of DRV; the ambassador of Germany in the country, and the global commercial director of the Iberostar Group. Also present will be the president of Grupo Iberostar, Miguel Fluxá, CEO Sabina Fluxá, and CSO Gloria Fluxà.

“Germans want to go on vacation and feel comfortable and safe while doing it, especially when traveling in times of COVID-19. Cuba meets all the conditions for a perfect getaway: Caribbean temperatures, good hotels and wonderful beaches to bathe and relax. For 65 years, Condor has taken its guests safely and reliably to vacation destinations, and will continue to do so even at special times like these, ”concluded Ralf Teckentrup, CEO of Condor,
