International Meeting of Ballet Academies

HAVANA, April 1st  Havana will host the 28th International Meeting of Ballet Academies, which will bring together almost 300 participants from 14 countries and all the provincial schools of this art in Cuba.Such a meeting of academies from various nations will promote the creative display of children and young artists in different contests and galas that will take place at the Teatro Martí in Havana.

As reported in a press conference, the president of the international jury of the event is the teacher Michelle Bittencourt, while the national jury is chaired by Viengsay Valdés.

And precisely the National Ballet of Cuba, led by Viengsay, also opens the so-called month of dance in the Avellaneda room of the Havana National Theater with presentations to please all its audiences.

The season continues today with one of the most emblematic pieces of tradition: the second act of Swan Lake, in the version by Prima Ballerina Assoluta Alicia Alonso.

According to the cuba.cu portal, the program for the first week includes Celeste, a creation based on the concerto for violin and orchestra by the Russian composer Piotr Tchaikovsky.

To complete the night they will perform Three Preludes, one of the most staged works by British choreographer Ben Stevenson, with music by Serguei Rachmaninov.

As of April 6, the program La forma del rojo, choreographed by Ely Regina Hernández with music by Ezio Bosso, will be added to the program, a piece of marked plasticity, published cuba.cu.

Dance art shines in various spaces in Cuba this month, a prelude to the celebrations for April 29, International Dance Day, established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) in 1982 .
