Grand Theater of Havana to reopen with show by Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba
HAVANA, Oct 22 The Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba company, defender of its own style as a result of the fusion of flamenco, ballet, contemporary style, folklore and other popular Cuban dances, will be in charge of returning dance to the Gran Teatro de La Habana (GTH) Alicia Alonso, after months without receiving performances of this type.
From October 23 to 25, the acclaimed group will celebrate its 29 years of existence in the García Lorca Hall, with this first show they perform after the absence of the stages due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Complying with the hygienic-sanitary and physical isolation measures necessary in that cultural institution, to prevent the spread of the pandemic, the functions will be held at regular hours of 8:30 at night for Friday 23 and Saturday 24, and at 5: 00 pm on Sunday 25.
From her Instagram profile, teacher Lizt Alfonso, dancer, choreographer, founder and director of the company, made a live broadcast in which she offered details about what will be happening this weekend on her return to the GTH.
In the middle of a rehearsal of the show, on the stage of the Sala García Lorca, the teacher interviewed several members of the famous group, who shared their experiences during the pandemic, how they continued to prepare in isolation to maintain form and be able to face these performances and their expectations with the return to the stage.
In their interventions, dancers and members of the technical team of Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba referred to the pride of being the first dance group to dance in this post-Covid-19 stage at the GTH, a coliseum where they have performed on numerous occasions.
Alfonso concluded the broadcast by inviting his followers to share with them this show organized to celebrate the company’s 29 years in the Cuban and international dance scene, and expressed that art and artists are truth, spirit and above all a lot of love. (ACN)
