LA HABANA, June 26 (PL) The oldest active theatre in Latin America, the Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso, will open to visit from next June 30, informed the institution today.

Visitors to the Coliseum will see the theatre mode inside, a special tour of the interior of the institution that will allow them to know spaces and work areas that they usually do not have access through guided tours.

For example, those interested will be able to see where the whole process of preparation of the shows will take place.

Every Friday, during the first tour, the visitor will have the opportunity to appreciate the specialized work areas such as the stage, technical area, basements, theatre cover and dressing rooms, including the one that regularly used the legendary dancer Alicia Alonso.

In these places, you will find the platform used to disappear Giselle on the grave at the end of the ballet, among other curiosities.

According to a statement from the coliseum, the new modality seeks to promote the rapprochement between the public and the institution through the history, the performance of the theatre and the artistic tradition accumulated during 180 years of existence.

The stage has hosted actresses such as Sarah Bernhardt, Eleonora Duse, singers Enrico Caruso and Pablo Casals, dancers Fanny Elssler and Anna Pavlova, musicians Luis Moreau Gottschalk, Teresa Carreño, Claudio Brindis de Sala, Ignacio Cervantes and Ernesto Lecuona, among many others.
