Gabon is interested to invest in Cuba

HAVANA, Jul 8th (PL) Gabonese Government officials expressed today in an economic forum the interest of investing in Cuba in the fishing industry, health and tobacco marketing.

The meeting took place at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba and the president of that African nation, Ali Bongo Ondimba was among the participants, as well as the Cuban minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca, and other officials and businesspeople from both countries.

Gabonese Strategic Investment Fund Director-General Serge Thierry Mickoto, said knowledge, applicable to the transformation of sea products would be fruitful and added that regarding hospital infrastructure, his intention was copy the Cuban health system.

The Cuban Foreign Trade Ministry director-general for foreign investment, Deborah Rivas, told the news agency Prensa Latina that the main interests identified by the Cuban side were in the pharmaceutical sector and others such as biotechnology, and also in developing projects regarding coffee, cocoa, agriculture, tourism and fishing.

Besides, Rivas said the interests of both nations coincide in strategic sectors to develop the two economies in a medium and long terms.
