Direct flights between Canada and Cienfuegos will resume December 8

HAVANA, Dec.6  This Friday, December 8, direct flights between Canada and Cienfuegos will resume through the Jaime González International Airport, about 250 kilometers from Havana, it was announced here today.
The two flights on Friday, by the airline Sunwing Airlines, mean the restart of its operations from Canada to the airports of Cienfuegos and Manzanillo, in the eastern province of Granma, after several interrupted or intermittent years.

Sunwing Airlines decided to resume its flights to the central province of Cienfuegos and Manzanillo due to the growing interest of Canadian travelers in visiting Cuba.

These destinations are known for their rich history, beautiful beaches, and colonial charm, making them popular choices for tourists who want to explore authentic Cuban culture.

Yuneidy Pérez López, deputy delegate of the Ministry of Tourism in Cienfuegos, informed Prensa Latina that the recipient of these flights is the Gaviota company and the tourists are destined for hotel facilities in this province, Trinidad, Varadero and Cayo Coco.

This month, the Canadian airline Air Transat will also begin flights from that country to Havana, according to José Ramón Hernández, director of Ground Operations at the Cuban Empresa de Aeropuertos y Servicios Aeroportuarios S.A. (Ecasa).

For more than two decades, the Canadian market has been the main source of tourists to various Cuban destinations. In 2022, more than half a million Canadians visited Cuba, according to information from the National Office of Statistics and Information (Onei).
