HAVANA, Dec 14th (EFE) The airline Cubana de Aviación restores its flights to Venezuela today, paralyzed since May, with the Caracas-Holguin-Havana triangular route, operated with a rented plane to the Italian firm Blue Panorama Airlines (BPA), official media reported. the island.
Two other frequencies will be added to this flight in the coming weeks, which will recover the three weekly flights that until seven months ago linked Cuba with its main allied country in political and economic terms.
The commercial director of the Venezuelan tour operator GTN Inversiones, Felix Lopez, quoted by the state agency Prensa Latina, said the flight is part of an initiative that promotes cultural and tourist exchange between the two countries with the promotion of leisure packages in tourist resorts and the Cuban capital.
The route will be operated by a Boeing 737-300 aircraft, leased to BPA, an Italian airline with which Cuba has previously worked.
Cubana is resuming its operations gradually after suspending most of them last May after the plane crash in Havana in which 112 of the 113 occupants of a domestic flight of the state-owned airline operated with a device rented to the Mexican company died. Global Air, punctuated by irregularities in its operations.
For the time being, the results of the open investigation to clarify the incident have not been revealed.
At the end of October, Cubana de Aviación – the only one that operates local flights on the island – has already announced the restoration of several of the national routes suspended or reduced in May after the accident and in the absence of sufficient aircraft to cover these operations.
