Cuban President highlights meeting with CEO of Pernod Ricard

HAVANA, July 1st   Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel highlighted the meeting held the day before at the Palace of the Revolution (seat of the Executive)

with French businessman Alexandre Ricard, President, and CEO of Pernod Ricard. In his Twitter profile, the president informed that during the meeting he acknowledged the performance of that group in the development of the HCI (Havana Club Internacional S.A.) Joint Venture and the growth of the brand, as well as the prestige of Cuban rum on a worldwide scale.

Díaz-Canel referred to the limitations imposed by the U.S. blockade, which, he said, has an enormous impact on our supply chains, supplies and availability of foreign currency, and is seriously affecting the people and the economy.

To this panorama, he continued, were added two years of Covid-19, when “we had to face the pandemic with our own efforts, with our own talent”.

We had to focus on saving lives with the few resources available, and that allowed us to control the pandemic very effectively, although there were hard times, he emphasized.

We have been able to begin to revive the economy, and social life, and to return to what we have determined as the “new normal”; therefore, things have to be changing, he assured.

After thanking the President for his words, Ricard affirmed that his group has great ambitions and projects for HCI.
