Cuban Customs updates the rules for the importation of mopeds and motorcycles

HAVANA, January 29. The General Customs of the Republic has updated the rules for the importation of mopeds or electric motorcycles, as well as electric motors and their accessories for 2024.According to Official Gazette No. 16 Extraordinary of 2023, the entity established in Resolution 28 of 2023, the authorization of the importation of this equipment, without commercial character, for both Cuban and foreign natural persons residing in the country.

In this sense, the import of electric motors and their accessories allowed for the replacement or repowering of vehicles with internal combustion engines, and their conversion to electric ones.

The current provisions that you should be aware of are that Cuban Customs allows, as part of passengers’ luggage, the importation of up to two items of so-called mopeds or motorcycles, with or without sidecar, in both cases electric, as long as they do not have other additional cargo and passenger capacity.

In addition, it is established that natural persons can import by shipment up to one item of so-called mopeds or motorcycles, in both cases electric, with or without sidecar.

“Passengers may import, as part of their luggage, up to one set consisting of an electric motor and its accessories, as a replacement, for the repowering of combustion engine vehicles and their conversion to electric, in accordance with the established procedure. for that operation,” declares the official Resolution.
