Cuba presents over 500 projects on foreign investment

Cuba grants new legal guarantees to foreign investors
HAVANA, Dec 8  Cuba presented today its new Portfolio of Foreign Investment Opportunities 2020-2021, which includes 503 projects for a value of 12 thousand 70 million dollars.

It was presented by the Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca, during the opening of the Business Forum Cuba 2020, an event that is carried out online to promote economic exchange with the island.

According to the minister, the list of options to invest in Cuba includes 112 new projects distributed throughout the national territory, 44 of them in the Special Development Zone of Mariel.

In addition, he noted that 131 of these initiatives are linked to tourism and 119 to oil exploitation.

Other sectors where Cuba promotes the incorporation of foreign capital are construction, pharmaceutical industry, mining, food production, professional services, among other key areas associated with the Economic-Social Strategy of the nation.

The official pointed out that there are changes with respect to the previous Portfolio to make exports more flexible and to promote them, such as the incorporation of franchise contracts and the lease of tourist facilities linked to foreign investment.
