Cuba increases business opportunities with foreign capital
HAVANA, Dec 6 (RHC) Cuba on Monday expands the opportunities for foreign capital with the incorporation of new commercial possibilities in sectors such as food production, tourism, oil, industry, and mining.The update of the Portfolio of Foreign Investment Opportunities, approved by the Council of Ministers, opens to commercial exchange more than a dozen business projects focused on construction, transportation and logistics and the sugar agro-industry.
Investments in the sectors of renewable energy sources, wholesale and retail trade, the pharmaceutical and biotechnological industry, culture and professional services, as well as hydraulic and sanitary networks, are also favored by the most recent edition of this stock market.
During the V Foreign Investment Forum, held within the framework of the 2022 Havana International Fair, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of Cuba, Rodrigo Malmierca, reported that the latest version of said portfolio included 101 new projects.
“Three of them in the Mariel Special Development Zone,” emphasized Malmierca, noting that in parallel 71 initiatives were withdrawn and another 229 were adapted, based on changes in the description, modality and amount of investment, among other elements.
He detailed the headline that four initiatives are added in the financial banking sector for the authorization of a non-bank financial institution, technological and computer systems for banking transactions, a corporate investment bank and investment fund management.
