Cuba has a virtual search engine to detect Covid-19

HAVANA, May 22th  (PL) Cuban health authorities insisted today on the availability and usefulness of the digital self-investigation available to the entire population, which can increase the detection of infected but asymptomatic people from Covid-19.

Dr. Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap) commented before the press that this instrument would provide more information and truthful data on the transmission of SARS-Cov2, the virus causing the disease, with the statement of the state of health of the population.

This is the Virtual Investigator COVID 19, a new tool that allows capturing as a complement to the active investigation process carried out by the National Health System in the context of the epidemiological confrontation with Covid-19.

It is available through the web and also as an application (apk) for mobile devices that use the Android operating system.

Durán commented that until now there is no scientific evidence to support the appearance of new strains of SARS-Cov2, which sometimes mutate, change and are studied in various countries to identify and classify the types of viruses, and thus facilitating the analysis of how the transmission of the disease occurs from one continent to another and between countries.

He said that Cuba is currently carrying out its own characterization, which will be reported once it is finished while remaining vigilant for any new information circulating in the world.

The island reported six new positive patients to Covid-19 today, bringing the total of 887 confirmed cases, while it did not register deaths for the sixth consecutive day.

Of a total of 1,688 studies carried out the day before, six were positive for the SARS-Cov-2 virus, investigations that now total 85,553, in addition to the confirmed cases (four women and two men), four were asymptomatic, while One thousand 538 have been discharged, 81.8 per cent of the total.
