Cuba Expects High Foreign Participation in Energy Forum

Renewable Energy,HAVANA, May 31 (PL) About 200 delegates from some 20 countries will participate in the Ninth International Conference on Renewable Energy, Energy Saving and Energy Education, CIER 2017, that opened today, till the 2th of June

Ecuador, Qatar, Turkey, Nicaragua, Mexico, United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, Spain, Chile, France, Colombia and Argentina, are among the nations to attend the forum.

The objective of the forum is to create synergies in the presentation of the progress in energy saving from the technological, scientific and business viewpoint, added Morales, who described this kind of event as the most important of those organized by CETER.

The latter belongs to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the ‘Jose Antonio Echeverria’ Technological University in Havana.

The program includes five international workshops on wind energy, hydrogen as an alternative fuel, photovoltaic solar energy, biofuel and biomass.

Cuba plans by 2030 to raise 24 percent the share of renewable energy in its energy matrix, which currently stands at almost more than four percent, while the bulk depends on fossil fuels.
