Ballet Nacional de Cuba to Tour Spain, Italy, France
HAVANA, Apr 6 (PL) The National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) will tour Spain, Italy and France starting on April 30, announcedtoday the direction of the company directed by the legendary artist Alicia Alonso.
The journey through these countries will keep the group away from its native land for three months, but it will allow the group to return to scenarios where the European public has already seen it and meet new ones such as the Pleyel hall in Paris.
The director of the Museum of Dance, Pedro Simón informed at a press conference that the BNC will tour several Spanish cities such as Madrid, Andalusia, Barcelona and the Basque Country, among others, while in Italy it would perform in Turin and Ravenna.
The company pretends to present its versions of the classics The Nutcracker, Giselle and Don Quixote, with which it has won praise in numerous countries.
The BNC and Alonso won the Grand Prix de la Ville in Paris in 1966 for the performance of Giselle at the 4th International Dance Festival, held at the Theater of the Champs Elysees.
Simon commented on the French interest on seeing the company dancing a varied program of pas de deux that offer a panoramic of the dancing styles, so in addition to Giselle and Don Quixote the main figures will star in a gala.
