A French woman, the first woman to win the Havana Club Cocktail Grand PrixHAVANA, June 3 (EFE) The French Ninon Fauvarque became today in Havana the first woman to win the XII International Cocktail Grand Prix of Havana Club, attended by 41 professionals from 40 countries.

After Fauvarque, who works in the establishment “La Queue Du Coq” in the French town of Annecy, the Armenian Stepan Abrahamyan and the Ghanaian Johnson Wisdow, of Ghana, positioned themselves in a contest that has a biennial character and that this year  happend in the historic Hotel Nacional de Cuba.

The island was also represented by a woman, Barbara Betancourt, responsible for the “Gato Tuerto” bar in the Cuban capital, reported news agency Agencia Cubana de Noticias.

In the International Cocktail Grand Prix, which asked for creations inspired by the “Modern Cuba”, the winners of the national editions of the contest that has been celebrated during the last months in countries where the rums of the Cuban brand are commercialized competed .

The general director of Havana Club Internacional, Christian Barré, told the local press that the high level, “transparency and seriousness” of the contest, underscored that this is the first time that a woman has won.

Simultaneously to the competition, the contestants participated in exchange workshops and visited the Santa Cruz del Norte Ronera, where the famous  Rum is manufactured.
