HAVANA, Nov 13. The Haitian airline Sunrise Airways will resume flights to Havana, after eight months of interruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As of December 1, the company will connect Port-au-Prince and Havana with a frequency of three weekly flights, to which an equal number will be added to Santiago de Cuba and two to the provinces of Holguín and Camagüey, respectively.

Sunrise further confirmed that it will operate an Airbus A320 with an optimized cabin layout, better baggage and cargo handling, maximum operational flexibility on short and medium routes and a significant reduction in carbon dioxide emissions.

Already at the beginning of this month, it resumed its commercial flights with the cities of Santiago de Cuba and Holguín, with a daily frequency and three times a week, respectively.

Sunrise Airways began operations in Cuba in February 2017, and since then it has maintained stable connections with direct flights to four cities from the Haitian Toussaint Louverture airport.

It also links Havana with Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic.
