Spirit suspends regular flights to Cuba
HAVANA, June 2th As it was announced a couple of months ago, the American airline Spirit has already canceled its regular flights to Cuba. Thus, last May 31 occurred the last trip of the company to Cuba.
The airline only maintained the Florida-Havana route for four months due to low profitability and, according to company spokesman Paul Berry, the high operating costs did not correspond to the low demand.
According to some analysts, there are several US companies that have been forced to cancel their flights to Cuba, due to an error in calculating the potential of the tourist market Cuba. In that sense experts say that the companies did not take into account that the tourist market in the island is limited by its hotel capacity and its infrastructures.
