XX Biennial of Graphic Humor Ends in HavanaHavana, Apr 5 (PL) XX Biennial of Graphic Humor Ends in Havana with the commitment to promote Latin American graphic humor and the invitation to upcoming meetings, the 20th edition of the San Antonio de los Baños Biennial, inthe western Cuban province of Artemisa, says good bye today.

After three days of exhibitions, colloquium and cultural activities, the event comes to an end this afternoon, when the prizes and mentions in categories such as general humor, political satire, personal caricature, cartoons and photography will be announced.

Of the 500 art works presented, 133 of the 79 authors mostly coming from Brazil, Iran and the host country are in competition.

Speaking to the press, the president of the jury, Carlos David Fuentes, noted that will be recognized those works that achieve a balance between creativity and good performance.

The quality of the works in the competition is higher this year. Our selection criteria responds to the presence of positive qualities from the visual, adding the particularity of the caricature, whose message must be direct, implicit and easy to understand, told the Cubaperiodistas web site.

More than 70 artists from a dozen nations participated in the event which motto is Peace …, Then Success.

Besides inviting to build a world without wars or conflicts, the Biennial paid homage to the Cuban caricaturist Rafael Fornés, in the 100 years of his birth and 60 of the creation of his character Sabino.
