Cuba Starts 2017 Salsa Festival

Havana, Feb 23 (PL) The Salsa Festival convenes today in this capital many of the most popular dance music orchestras in Cuba, in order to visualize those dances and sounds that win followers around the world.

This was expressed by singer and composer Maykel Blanco, main promoter of the event, who for the second time organizes this festival for the lovers of this genre.

Cuban salsa bands Los Van Van, Maykel Blanco y su Salsa Mayor, Paulo FG y su Elite, Adalberto Alvarez y su Son, Anacaona, Pupy y los que Son Son, Alexander Abreu y Habana D’Primera, El Tosco y NG La Banda; Tania Pantoja y su orquesta, among others, will attend the festival at the Metropolitan Park in Havana.

All of them will perform outdoor concerts. The shows will also include the presentation of comparsas (parade dancing groups) such as Los Guaracheros de Regla and that of the Cuban Federation of University Students (FEU).

They will also have the participation of some salsa DJs known here and in other countries such as Argentina and the United States.

The idea is to promote Cuban popular dance music, and promote the salsa music produced here, as well as dance and other artistic expressions, Blanco said.

Several activities especially dedicated to the foreign public, such as workshops on dance and popular music, were held at Comodoro Hotel on February 21st and 22nd.

The Cuban capital will host the Salsa Festival until Sunday, February 26th, an opportunity for national and foreign dancers to enjoy and dance Cuban music.
