 Qatari business investing in Cuba in tourism, health and sport HAVANA, July 26th  (PL) Cuba and Qatar are planning a relationship based on mutual respect and focused on the economic development, Arab country”s ambassador here, Rashid Mairza Al-Mulla, stated today.
The diplomat told Prensa Latina that since the beginning of the cooperation in the 80’s, the interest of Qatari business and businessmen for investing in Cuba in sectors such as tourism, health and sport has been maintained.He recalled the signing of the memorandum of understanding between Cuba and the Investment Authority of his country in an amount of $2 billion USD, in the context of the visit to the island of Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Emir of Qatar, in 2015.

The visit of the Emir, who was received by President Raul Castro, outlined cooperation with projects for the development of both nations, he said.

The representative of the Middle East’s small Emirati nation located in the Persian Gulf, said that as part of the medical collaboration, there is a hospital in Qatar where mostly health personnel are Cubans.

The aim is to expand and strengthen economic ties also maintaining all that we have achieved, the diplomat noted.

Qatar has the world’s third largest natural gas reserves and is one of the countries with the highest per capita income on the planet. It has the highest human development index in the entire Arab world.
