HAVANA, Mar 24 (PL) Agricultural fair in Havana proves Rodeo peak in Cuba with the increasing participation in rodeo competitions at the 2017 International Agro-industrialand Food-and-Agriculture Fair (Fiagrob) , according to a source close to those activities.
The president of the Cuban Association of Rodeo Cowboys and Cowgirls, Anadelio Gonzales, told the news agency Prensa Latina this organization, created in 1993, is composed of 1,300 members, 530 of whom are cowgirls.
In this Fiagrob edition, which is held each year as usual, at Rancho Boyeros exhibition center, 75 cowboys and cowgirls are participating and they belong to the three teams from Havana, Sancti Spiritus and Las Tunas. Those that previously participated in their respective areas, (west, centre and east).
The winner team in today’s competition will be compete tomorrow against riders from Venezuela, Panama and Mexico in the international tournament.
In Gonzalez’ opinion, rodeo is an exciting high-risk practice that is a cultural tradition, not only to people from the countryside, but also to a large part of the population.
