HAVANA, 12 Nov (PL) The arrival of this capital at 498 years on November 16 is an event, especially considering the increased interest of travelers to travel.
Some places in the Cuban capital are currently in the predilection of those who come to Havana from all over the world.
Judging by the repeated criteria of tourism guides and officials of the sector, today some scenarios of Havana are preferred by foreign visitors for their walks.
These sites attract their historical connotation, beauty or simply because they are ideal for taking pictures.
Among them, they mention the José Martí Memorial and Plaza, the La Bodeguita del Medio restaurant, the Hemingway Museum of Finca Vigía, the Fine Arts, the Plaza de la Catedral, the Floridita restaurant and the Morro-Cabaña fortress complex.
The José Martí Memorial is one of the most important monuments and places in the Cuban capital. Dedicated to the National Hero (1853-1895) it has a wonderful view and a tower that constitutes the most important viewpoint of Havana.
It has rooms with a complete vision of José Martí, and details of the layout, construction and urbanization of the Plaza, as well as the most relevant events that occurred in it, since after 1959, when the Cuban Revolution triumphed, it is the most significant scenario.
La Bodeguita del Medio, with 70 years of existence, confirms every day its status as the best known Cuban restaurant in the world, where you can sign on the walls.
The Ernest Hemingway Museum is located in the peripheral capital city of San Francisco de Paula, about 15 kilometers from the center and was the writer’s home for more than 20 interrupted years.
In the case of the National Museum of Fine Arts, it reopened on July 18, 2001, and constitutes a very special complex for the senses, with three buildings implanted in the history of Havana and an important cultural and social activity.
Founded as such in 1913, until 1925 it had several places to store works of art, and finally in 1955 it had its own building in the place it is today (Trocadero, Monserrate and Animas), a very populous urban center.
For its part, the Bar-Restaurant El Floridita represents a name, a drink and a legend, mentioning the Daiquiri preparation, part of the recipe book of Cuban cocktails, made from unavoidable rum.
That establishment opened its doors in July 1817 in the entrecalles of Obispo and Monserrate, one of the busiest places in Old Havana.
Another place is the Plaza de La Catedral, originally known as Plaza de la Ciénaga, later named ‘de la Catedral’, a place that has a lot to do with the origins of the City-Capital, settled on November 16, 1519
Another luxury scenario is the Cabaret Tropicana, because for the place, besides -among many other celebrities worldwide- passed the star Josephine Baker, since its birth on December 31, 1939.
And last but not least, tourists prefer the Morro-Cabaña Complex, on the other side of Havana Bay, particularly the San Carlos de La Cabaña fortress.
The work began in 1763 – immediately after the withdrawal of the English – by order of Carlos III and in 1863 already had a garrison of 1,300 men.
